Sweater Weather on the Brooklyn Bridge

I am writing my first post as a married woman! Feels so good (don’t worry– I will be sharing more on the wedding festivities soon!). While contemplating various destinations for our honeymoon, my husband and I (I still giggle on the inside every time I say ‘husband‘) decided to spend our first week as newlyweds in the fabulous state of New York. There were a million things I loved about New York (I’ll be sharing those soon as well), but one of my favorite days was spent walking the Brooklyn Bridge and exploring the colorful city of Brooklyn. I don’t think I can eat pizza in San Diego ever again, thanks to the absolutely unforgettable slice…I mean entire pizza we devoured at Juliana’s but that’s beside the point. Next to the food in New York, what I loved most was the weather during our time there. We were blessed with crisp. cool fall temperatures and the most unbelievable fall foliage. The day we spent in Brooklyn, we had perfect sweater weather, and today I am sharing with you the perfect fall sweaters!

A NEW DAY (TARGET) TURTLENECK | ABERCROMBIE & FITCH LOW RISE SKINNY JEANS | TORY BURCH FLATS (SIMILAR) | MICHAEL KORS CROSSBODY | TWEED BAKERBOY CAP

I love a good fall hue as much as the next person, but orange can be tricky. Even though it’s my all time color, I don’t own a lot of it in clothing. Think about how much ‘orange’ is in your closet right now and I bet you’ll agree. However, I saw this burnt orange colored turtleneck and had to have it. Being that it is more of a rust color in person, it’s extremely flattering on any skin tone and the fit is adorable and functional for cooler fall climates. The sweater is lightweight enough to be worn as a layering piece and thick enough to be worn on it’s own during the day.

I personally love the blocky turtleneck, but I could see how it might be too much material for some. This is actually sold as a ‘cowl neck’ which has more of a slouchy/loose fit. I just chose to wear it like a standard turtleneck by folding the material as such. The texture is more of a waffle knit, as opposed to the thicker cable knit, but the thinner fabric makes it easier to tuck in to jeans as shown. This sweater does have a tunic-style or curved hem, so it’s also really cute un-tucked with leggings.

I wanted to briefly share another chunky turtleneck that I love and got plenty of use out of in NYC. This ivory cable knit is very warm, and very thick- perfect for chillier days. It’s a cozy cotton-blend and an absolute steal for the price (under $30). Despite the thickness, it’s easy to layer to with a coat if necessary.

Here are some other sweaters I’m loving this season! Thanks for reading and Happy November!
