I definitely do not consider myself a beauty guru. Half the time, I’m lucky to make it out of the house with chapstick on and my hair in a style that takes the term “messy bun” to a whole ‘nother level. However, I do have a few tried and true products that I turn to time and time again, and thought I’d share them with you! These are staples in my routine and are perfect to introduce into your summer beauty regimen.
1) Milani Color Statement Lipstick– I’ve tried a ton of lipstick- both department and drug store brands, but my all-time favorite, is this line from Milani. I wear this lipstick almost exclusively (with the exception of Ruby Woo, by MAC). There is a wide range of colors and their matte lipsticks are the perfect consistency. My favorite shades are Matte Beauty and Bahama Beige. I also use the accompanying lipliners.
2) Monoi Oil– This is no secret to my island girls! But for those who are unfamiliar, monoi oil is an infused oil made by soaking tiare (similar to gardenia) flowers in coconut oil. Monoi has many uses, and is a necessary component for summer as far as I’m concerned! It is free of sulfates, parabens, silicones, and is essentially all-natural. I use it for tanning mostly, but because it is composed primarily of coconut oil it still maintains all of the same benefits for hair and skin.
3) Kiehls Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner– Honestly, I have annoyingly sensitive skin. As a result, finding a toner that doesn’t dry out or break out my skin was a constant challenge. Enter Kiehls- the answer to my prayers. This toner is gentle enough for sensitive skin, but also does its job in deep down cleansing and reducing oil- leaving my face feeling squeaky clean.
4) Devacurl Buildup Booster– I LOVE Devacurl. I could write an entire post about them (…and probably will at some point!) Bottom line, is that if you have curly hair you need some Devacurl in your life! I use tons of their products, but the newest one I’ve picked up is the Buildup booster. The main purpose is to remove buildup from the scalp without stripping the hair. It also aids in adding moisture, shine and bounce back into to the hair. My curls have never looked and felt healthier! I use this once a week.
5) Kiehl’s Avocado Creamy Eye Treatment– I bet by now you’ve heard about this, and you can absolutely believe the hype. This stuff is incredible. It’s main purpose is to hydrate the problematic under-eye area. It feels like you’re giving your skin a big drink of water. I definitely notice a huge difference in the elasticity and texture of my skin in that area.
6) Essie Nail Polish in “Fiji”– Everyone needs a nail color for each season, and this is my summer shade. I have a thing for baby pink, and this is by far my favorite.
7) Beekman Fresh Cream Goat Milk Hand Cream– I have perpetually dry hands! It gets even worse in the summer for some reason. This is my favorite hand cream because once it’s applied, the moisture seems to last for hours without feeling greasy. I also love the Beekman goats milk bar soap. I usually use this before bed and first thing in the morning to keep the dry hands under control.
8)Maybelline Big Shot Mascara– I often get asked what type of mascara I use, and people are usually surprised when I tell them. Maybelline makes some amazing mascara, and this one is no exception. It gives the perfect amount of volume and length. For casual summer days, I can skip the eyeliner altogether and just wear this mascara.
9) St. Tropica Organic Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask– Anyone who has curly, thick, or coarse hair knows the importance of deep conditioning. I’ve tried so many oil treatments, hair masks, and leave in conditioners, and this hot oil mask is one of the best things I’ve found. This is loaded with biotin and other nutrients which help repair damage. I’ve noticed my hair become stronger and less prone to breakage with this treatment.
10) Shea Moisture Hand & Body Scrub– Shea Moisture has been killin’ the game with their organic hair and body care products. I love this scrub for exfoliating and making my skin feel silkier and look brighter all around. It also is infused with essential oils like lavender and peppermint, so it smells incredible.
I love trying new products – what are some of your favorite beauty go-to’s?
