God Bless my husband. No, but really. God bless a man who orders food at a restaurant but can’t eat it until his wife has arranged it perfectly on the table for a picture. I can’t count how many times I’ve stopped him mid- bite, or mid-sip for a photo in front of ‘that cute wall!‘ But, I just can’t help it when I see a space worth documenting! Luckily, San Diego has some of the most Instagrammable little spots (and luckily for me, my husband doesn’t mind snapping a quick pic now and then š Today I’m sharing five local coffee shops where you can enjoy a delicious shot of espresso and take an equally as satisfying shot for the ‘gram!
The Grounds Bean Bar
1571 La Playa Ave, San Diego, CA 92109
What to Try: The Grounds Avocado Toast (prosciutto, burrata and balsamic vinegar…so good!) Also, the Tumeric Latte.
Come for the coffee, stay for the gorgeous decor. This coffee shop has a great little nook that would be perfect for studying and also a coffee bar to grab a quick beverage. But believe me, you will want to stay for as long as possible. The menu is small featuring a few craft coffees, some small bites and pastries, but it’s just enough for a pick me up at any time of the day.
Holy Matcha
3118 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104
What to Try: The Avocado Toast (It’s my favorite of all-time!) and the Matcha lemonades.
So this isn’t technically a ‘coffee shop’ but unless you’ve been living under a rock you have likely seen this pink paradise of a tea room. I did a full review of it hereĀ and have been back several times since. They are masters of Matcha, so if you enjoy it, this is definitely worth a visit. They infuse matcha into everything- even donuts!
Communal Coffee
2335 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104
What to Try: The Pear Ginger Lemonade + Honey Lavender Latte
I’m actually obsessed with this place. A coffee shop and boutique flower shop all in one serving up craft coffee andĀ beautiful seasonal florals. Workspace goals, for sure.
S3 Coffee Bar
6171 Mission Gorge Rd #102, San Diego, CA 92120
What To Try: Rainbow Latte
This is the smallest shop on this list, but still a cute spot and worth mentioning. They offer seasonal drinks in addition to the classic coffee shop favorites. Very bright with inviting natural light.
Cafe Gratitude
1980 Kettner Blvd, San Diego, CA 92101
What To Try: Acai Bowl (With Almond Butter & Honey) + Decadent Milkshake
This is more of a restaurant rather than a casual coffee shop, but there is a bar where you could just grab a beverage if you wanted to. Cafe Gratitude is a plant-based restaurant, with some delicious options that might surprise you! It’s a beautiful space.
Thanks for reading, loves! What are some of your favorite spots in San Diego?Ā
