Does anyone else just add a bunch of wishlist items to their shopping cart online, laugh, and then close the browser? Just me? …Oh, okay. While I have been guilty of loading up my virtual cart and abandoning it a time or two, that is not the case with the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. For those who are unfamiliar, it is the time of the year that Nordstrom extends exclusive offers on BRAND NEW clothing, shoes, beauty, and accessories for the fall season. This isn’t your “average sale” — you can score up to 40% off your favorite brands at this event and people aren’t messing around! (I’ve seen gals literally mark up the catalog like a college textbook!) This sale is a great time to stock up on closet staples and investment pieces for fall. Early access starts today for card holders, but if you don’t have a Nordstrom card (smart move! It’s dangerous, I know!) you can still shop all of these amazing deals on July 21st. You can even take a sneak peak at the sale online and start planning your attack! It can be a little overwhelming to navigate through the thousands of sale items, but I’ve rounded up some of my favorite buys, and the best deals in a few different price points!
Fancy Feet
The only thing I knew I wanted to buy was a good pair of over the knee boots. I stumbled upon these Marc Fisher’s, and they fit the bill! The soft stretch of the suede ensured that the top portion formed to my thigh even without ties. There is also a bit of elastic which should help keep the overall structure and fit of the top region. The boots themselves are really comfortable and will go with countless things for the upcoming fall season (at least that’s what I’ve been telling myself).
Up next, are these gorgeous red mules! These are super comfy and the color is irresistible (also available in grey and black suede if you’re looking for an option you can wear more often). I would recommend going up a half size as with most mules. The block heel makes these extremely durable and sturdy. You can save $30 on these beauties by shopping before August 7th!
If you are in the market for new sneakers, take advantage of the discount offered on several styles of Adidas and Nike’s like these! I didn’t end up purchasing these, but I did try them on and they were extremely lightweight- a solid choice for reasonably priced running shoes.
I have a love/hate relationship with Tory Burch flats. In my experience, they can scuff really easily, and certain style are even uncomfortable for long periods of time. With that being said, I have yet to find a flat that looks more chic than Tory Burch. These were offered at the Anniversary sale, and I think they are worth trying. The have a more refined design than the classic ‘Minnie‘ and I actually prefer this more dainty shape for the workplace.
Must-Have Apparel
When shopping the sale, I was kinda bummed that I don’t live in a cooler climate. There were so many fabulous coats on sale, but they just aren’t practical for San Diego. Nevertheless, I did seize the opportunity to acquire some new outerwear for fall/winter (whatever that is for San Diego) among a few other pieces.
I love this deconstructed off the shoulder blouse! This was one of those items that looked ‘blah’ on the hanger, but SO CUTE on. I couldn’t decide between the white and baby blue, but ended up going with the blue.
If you know anything about me, you know that I basically live in off-the-shoulder clothing, so I absolutely loved this bell sleeve off-the-shoulder romper!
Speaking of rompers, can I just say that I have such a weakness for them? I’m the girl you’re waiting for in the restroom stall because I have a romper on and it takes twice as long to use the lady’s room! I’d be embarrassed to tell you how many I own currently, and yet- I can’t pass up a cute romper when I see one. I know that everyone has mixed feelings about rompers, especially my friends with longer torsos. Understandably so, rompers and jumpsuits can have some…interesting proportions. However, this one fit perfectly! I will likely be accessorizing with a belt, but it fits really well without one.
The only reason I passed on this North Face Waterproof jacket, is because I recently purchased something similar. I did try it on (of course), just for sizing and it fits true to size. They are offering this for the sale in 4 colors, and it’s definitely a functional buy if you’re looking for a lightweight and breathable rain jacket.
For all of my fellow petites, this suede jacket by BLANKNYC fits so cute and comes in XS which is perfect to eliminate the bulk that often accompanies leather jackets- perfect sleeve length and silhouette. This is a great quality jacket at a reasonable price and something you can’t pass up for the upcoming cooler temperatures. I purchased this one (unfortunately, this is now sold out), but this jacket is still available in the gorgeous red color. BLANKNYC also has a faux leather jacket in the mix of the sale for under $100! I didn’t try it on, but you can find it here
The last thing I absolutely have to talk about, are those Paige jeans. The only thing other than makeup that I have no problem splurging on, is a good pair of jeans. To me it’s worth it when you’re wearing jeans that make you feel like a million bucks only because I’ve spent so much time in the wrong types of jeans for my body type. I find that high-waisted is more flattering on me, but to each his own! Paige makes wonderfffuullllll jeans, and the fact that they are offering these in the sale is awesome! They are really flattering and extremely comfortable. The price will almost double, come August 7th. Check them out if you’re on the hunt for some good denim.
Beauty & Gifts
There are tons of beauty exclusives offered this year, and they. are. good. I was proud that I walked out of there with only a few things because the temptation is real, sisters!
Stila Liquid eyeliner and lipkit– This was a no brainer for me, because I already use this Stila eyeliner and pay $22 for it alone. Why not spend $20 to get both the eyeliner and a liquid lipstick.
I thought that this rose gold and marble manicure set was adorable and would make the perfect gift!
The last thing I need in my life is more candles, but these mini Voluspa candles smelled too heavenly to pass up. This set was a really popular item.
If you are looking to rev up your skin care routine, a Clarisonic is the perfect thing. I’ve had mine for years! They are usually over $100, so take advantage of this great deal- it goes back to regular price on August 7th.
As I just mentioned, I’ve had my Clarisonic for a while and used this opportunity to stock up on extra brush heads at a great price. These will last a while!
For the make-up lovers in the house, MAC was offering several ‘Look In a Box’ makeup kits, which are essentially all the products you need for a complete book in one convenient package. These were flying off the shells (literally, some lady dropped one on me trying to reach for a box on the top shelf!). They also had 2 different brush kits available. I loved the black and rose gold!
Well friends, there you have it! If you are planning to do some shopping at this year’s sale, I’d love to hear about your favorite finds! Good luck, and Happy Shopping!
