5 Beauty Treatments to Do Yourself During Quarantine

Okay, COVID….wrap it up- Am I right?! Aside from being just plain bored, one of the things I’m missing the most is going to get beauty treatments done (quarantine nails are a real thing, you guys…and they ain’t pretty) I just love those few moments in the day to enjoy some #selfcare and compliment my beauty routine. To help me feel like a semi-normal human being during this time, I’ve tried to replicate some of these services while being safe at home and wanted to share in the hopes that you’ll benefit from a little “Me Time” too!

Instead of lash extensions, try GRANDE LASH SERUM:

The truth is, even if you frequently get lash extensions, you should be working to nourish and strengthen your natural lashes anyway. I’ve been using this serum every night, and have been truly impressed with the results. This promotes the appearance of longer, thicker-looking lashes in four to six weeks, with lasting improvement in as little as three months. I honestly started to see a difference within 2 weeks.

Instead of Salon waxing/sugaring, try NADS WAX STRIPS:

In lieu of my monthly sugaring appointment, I tried these Wax strips and was pretty pleased with the outcome. I will say, this is one service that I’m more than happy to pay for once things are up and running, but in the meantime, these strips do the trick. They are so gentle and there is no actual wax involved, making it really easy to do yourself. I prefer this option to chemical creams for hair removal even though there is a little sting involved, but hey, no pain, no gain 😉

Instead of a gel manicure, try PRESS-ON NAILS:

I’ve used these nails from Impress even pre-quarantine when I’m in a pinch and can’t get to the salon. Press-ons have come a lonnnng way, and even though they aren’t as durable as gel or salon acrylics, they are aesthetically very similar these days and are great for a special occasion or even just a little pick me up. I love these because there is no glue involved, so they are really easy to apply yourself. Despite not being adhered with glue, the adhesive should last at least a week when doing typical daily activities.

Instead of a facial, try AT-HOME MICRONEEDLING

It’s pretty amazing what you can from the comfort of your home these days, including some beauty treatments that were typically unheard of without an experienced technician completing the procedure. Microneedling is one of those services. However, just because you can do it an home doesn’t mean that it doesn’t require some caution. In essence, micro needling is a procedure that is meant to generate new collagen in an effort to improve elasticity, tone, and texture of the skin. But as the name suggests, there are tiny needles involves in a rolling-type contraption, which means that your skin is being punctured (even if slightly). Make sure you are sanitizing and cleaning these tools before and after each use to prevent infection or bacteria build-up.

When done safely, this can be a great way to save money and get plump, radiant skin at home!

Instead of a tanning bed, try a SELF-TANNER

Although I tan very easily, if I need an extra boost I sometimes will use a self-tanner. This not only gives me a more even tan, but allows me to achieve that vacay glow even when I haven’t left my living room. Since that is the case for most of us these days, adding a tanner to our routine can be a simple and easy way to ramp up our beauty routine. It might be tricky to get the hang of using a self-tanner at first (…i.e; don’t lay down on your fresh white sheets to take a nap right after you apply it), but by following the instructions and practicing, you’ll get more familiar with the process. I suggest grabbing a tanning mitt like this for application purposes, to alleviate the amount of tanner that would otherwise end up on the palms of your hand.

I also wanted to share a bonus, since most of our spa days also involve a quick trip to the coffee shop!

Instead of your favorite coffee shop latte, try a NESPRESSO

I’ve had my eye on this baby for years, and finally took the plunge after seeing that it’s on sale! If you are an avid coffee drinker, do your self a favor and invest in a Nespresso. It is just as good as the baristas make it, all from the coziness of your couch! This sale option from Bed, Bath, and Beyond comes with a milk frother and complimentary coffee pods!

Thanks so much for reading! What are some of your favorite ways to treat yourself at home?
