Can you believe today is June 1st? 2018 is nearly halfway over….just let that sink in. I like to use a new season as an opportunity to reevaluate and realign my goals; a time to personally check in with myself. In my last blog post I discussed the importance of setting short term goals to maintain motivation and productivity. With the official start of summer, I thought I would share a few of my personal goals with you! Goal setting is a huge part of my life. It gives me direction, assists with my time management, and helps me to organize my often chaotic thoughts. Creating specific goals helps me to truly define what I’m aiming to achieve and makes it easier to asses the process by which I can accomplish those things.
Regulate My Sleep Schedule– My sleep schedule lately has been all over the place! I’ve learned to survive on minimal sleep, but I definitely notice the side effects. Summer may be the wrong time to try to implement this (lol), but I want to try to go to sleep at a more reasonable hour and get my day started earlier. I love being an early riser, but it’s hard when you stay up til 2am binge watching Friends on Netflix for no apparent reason.
Start a Bible Study- This is something that has been on my heart for a while. I love diving into God’s word with others and firmly believe in the power of community- especially with sisters in Christ!
Read 2 New Books– Reading is one of my all-time favorite hobbies, but I honestly can’t remember the last time I read for leisure. I’d love to get lost in 2 new books this summer! (recommendations welcome!)
Print Out My Photos & Create A Scrapbook– It saddens me that no one uses photo albums anymore. Swiping through photos on an iPhone just isn’t the same. I love looking through good ‘ol fashioned photo albums and absolutely LOOOVEEEE scrapbooking. I’m making it a goal to print out our photos, and tangibly document our memories!
Organize My Closet– Maybe I should have made this #1! Because we have a small closet space, I transition my closet for each season. I store my outerwear, and heavier coats during the summer and have to rehang my summer clothes when this season comes back around. It’s so time consuming, but I l like having my clothes neatly displayed and being able to take advantage of all the pieces. (With everything crammed in the closet, you forget that you have certain items, and end up re-wearing the same pieces over and over).
Explore 5 New Places in San Diego– Living in San Diego, there is no shortage of incredible places to see. With longer summer days on the horizon, I’d love to spend more time exploring my surroundings and finding some new favorite spots!
Continue to Work on Balance- This is always on my radar. I feel that creating balance is a gradual process and I’m constantly learning what works best for me, and how I can be better at prioritizing.
Spend More Time in the Moment– On our last night in Paris, my husband drove us to the Eiffel Tower on our rented Vespa at one in the morning. The lights of the Eiffel Tower were twinkling, the city was still, the air was cool, and for a short time, it felt like we were in the only people in the entire city. I absorbed everything about that moment: the sights, the smells, and the way I felt. I want to spend more time soaking up as many of those memories as possible.
Unsubscribe to Spam Emails- I prefer my spam fried, with eggs- not in email form. Have you ever realized just how much spam comes through your inbox? Literally hundreds of emails weekly! Hoping to spend some time unsubscribing from spam and services I no longer use.
Take a Good Look at My Bank Account– I used to be really good at monitoring my bank account- when I was in college, and literally had to stay on top of my account because one latte would cause me to overdraft. When you thoroughly look at your bank statement, you’ll notice allllll kinds of crazy things you’re spending money on, that you don’t even realize. (For me, it’s mostly food- go figure!) Taking note of those transactions will help to budget your spending and make small adjustments to save quite a bit of money! You may also notice subscription services that you forgot you signed up for, that are costing you money!
Thank you for reading. Curious as to what some of your summer goals are!
